Kielce secure runners-up spot as Legia clinch gold

On Saturday evening, Military Boxing Club RUSHH Kielce beat Golden Team Nowy Sącz 16-2, securing silver in the Polish Boxing League. Boxing Club Legia Warsaw is already guaranteed the Polish title.
The final, 14th round of the revived Polish Boxing League is under way. Saturday’s match at Hala Legionów in Kielce also had a charitable purpose. WKB RUSHH is celebrating its 20th anniversary. The club was founded by Grzegorz Nowaczek, president of the Polish Boxing Association. The anniversary was combined with a charity drive to help build a children’s hospice. Dance and music performances accompanied the event.
In the ring, the Kielce side proved far too strong for Golden Team Nowy Sącz. The Nowy Sącz team was originally due to host the match, but the clubs agreed to stage it during the event in Kielce. The win brought WKB RUSHH level on points with leaders Legia. Both teams have 20 points, but Kielce have the worse head-to-head record: 4-14 and 12-6. Their overall bout-point totals are level at 158 apiece.
Legia are already assured of gold. On Sunday at 18:30, they will face Imperium Boxing in Wałbrzych. Imperium sit third with 18 points. Fourth-placed Pomorzanin Boxing Team Toruń have 16 points and will host Concordia Knurów at noon on Sunday.
Imperium trail WKB RUSHH by two points. Kielce had the better of their head-to-head meetings, which ended 14-4 and 8-10.
WKB RUSHH’s points on Saturday came from Mateusz Szczoczarz (55 kg), Paweł Brach (60 kg), Ilia Bader (65 kg), Mateusz Polski (70 kg), Nikodem Szafarz (75 kg), Michał Pierzchała (80 kg), Ashot Kocharian (90 kg) and Jakub Domurad (+90 kg).
