Legia Warsaw, Concordia Knurów, Hetman Białystok and Igloopol Dębica are just some of Poland’s former team champions. After more than 20 years, the Polish Boxing League is returning. It aims to give Olympic boxing a fresh start. The season begins March 15.

Reviving the league was one of the goals and dreams of Grzegorz Nowaczek, president of the Polish Boxing Association. Its return was made possible through the cooperation of many people, institutions, partners and sponsors.

The league returns in a new format, backed by strong staffing and organization. It is intended to provide regular bouts against opponents from Poland and abroad. There will also be plenty of excitement for older fans who remember league contests and younger fans for whom they are something new.

In the league’s final years, at the start of this century, Hetman Białystok was the strongest team. It won gold in 2001, 2002 and 2004, having previously won in 1992. In 2003 it took silver behind PKB Poznań, and in 1999 it won bronze.

Energetyk Jaworzno triumphed in 2000, Halex Elbląg in 1999, Polonia Świdnica in 1998, Walka Zabrze in 1997 and Concordia Knurów in 1996. Victoria Jaworzno won from 1993 to 1995, Zagłębie Konin in 1991, Czarni Słupsk in 1990 and Igloopol Dębica from the 1987/88 season through 1989. Legia Warsaw dominated the first half of the 1980s and has won an impressive 21 titles in all.

Eight teams will compete in the revived league in 2025. They will play each other home and away, for a total of 56 matches. Polish Boxing Association president Grzegorz Nowaczek hopes the Polish Boxing League will go from strength to strength. He hopes more teams will join and perhaps even a second division will be established. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for its success!

The opening round is coming soon. Its featured match, broadcast by TVP Sport, will pit KB Legia Warsaw against Imperium Boxing Wałbrzych. It starts March 15 at 8 p.m. The remaining dates in the first round are April 25-27, May 9-11, May 23-25, June 6-8, June 13-15 and June 20-22.
