Polish Boxing League starts March 15 in Warsaw: Opening-round matchups announced

Eight teams, 14 rounds and 56 matches: That is what the 2025 season of the revived Polish Boxing League has in store. KB Legia Warszawa will host Imperium Boxing Wałbrzych in the season opener on Saturday, March 15. Coverage begins at 8 p.m. on TVP Sport.
A press conference dedicated to the Polish Boxing Association’s new project was held at Torwar in Warsaw on Friday, February 21. Attendees included Minister of Sport and Tourism Sławomir Nitras, association president Grzegorz Nowaczek, vice president for development and organization Maciej Demel, Central Sports Centre director Janusz Samel and TVP Sport director Jakub Kwiatkowski. World and European championship medalists and Olympians were also present, including league ambassadors Krzysztof Kosedowski, Bogdan Gajda, Tomasz Borowski, Paweł Skrzecz and Zbigniew Raubo.
“We are taking an important step today. The Polish Boxing League is returning after 22 years. I am delighted, and I thank president Grzegorz Nowaczek and everyone who helped make it happen. We need Olympic boxing as a sport, but also as a way to teach respect and fair competition. The Ministry of Sport and Tourism will support you financially and organizationally. Our goal for the Los Angeles Olympics is at least three medals, including at least one won by a man,” said Minister Sławomir Nitras.
Association president Grzegorz Nowaczek also welcomed the league’s return. He thanked the Ministry of Sport and Tourism, sponsors, partners and TVP Sport.
“When I became president of the Polish Boxing Association, I had two dreams. The first was an Olympic medal, which we won thanks to Julia Szeremeta. The second was to establish the Polish Boxing League. That dream is coming true today. Our sport deserves to be showcased properly,” he said.
Eight teams will compete in the league, playing a total of 56 matches over 14 rounds. Each team will have seven home matches and seven away matches. Organizers hope fans will return to league events. Women’s bouts will also take place during the matches.
The association president also had important news for Olympic boxing fans. “We have joined World Boxing, and the Feliks Stamm Tournament at Torwar will be one of four World Cup events in 2025. We have received tremendous support from the Ministry of Sport and Tourism to organize the competition,” Grzegorz Nowaczek announced.
