Polish Boxers in Action: November Shows from Silesia to Mazovia

November 5, 2021 [Silesia Boxing Show, Ruda Śląska]
Two well-known and highly regarded Polish boxers appeared in Ruda Śląska – Norbert Dąbrowski (24-9-2, 11 KOs) and Robert Talarek (25-14-3, 16 KOs).
Both of them probably had tougher sparring sessions than fights that evening. “Noras” stopped Przemysław Binienda (2-31, 2 KOs) in the fourth round, handing him his 30th consecutive defeat. Talarek, one of Poland’s hardest-hitting miners, stopped George Aduashvili (19-39-2, 8 KOs) in the second round. It was the Georgian’s 11th straight defeat. All of them had ended inside the distance.
November 6, 2021 [GIA 3, Nowy Sącz]
Krzysztof Włodarczyk (60-4-1, 40 KOs) claimed a milestone victory in the main event of GIA 3 in Nowy Sącz, defeating Maximiliano Jorge Gomez (29-6, 13 KOs).
“Diablo” shook off the rust in July and this time went on the attack from the opening seconds. Just before the end of the first round, he followed a left hook to the body with a powerful left hook upstairs. The Argentine clearly cooled off and spent the second round mainly thinking about defense and escape. In the third, the former two-time world cruiserweight champion dropped him with a short left hook at close range. In the fourth, he first threatened with a left upstairs before landing a hook around the liver. Gomez took a knee but made it to the bell. He did not come out for the fifth round.
Local fighter Łukasz Pławecki (3-0-1, 1 KO) fought to a six-round draw with Slovakia’s Radoslav Estocin (8-2-1, 3 KOs).
Kamil Gardzielik (14-0, 3 KOs), despite suffering problems with his right eye, defeated Nicolas Luque Palacios (12-9-1, 1 KO). In the first round he worked effectively behind his jab, but in the second the Argentine broke through twice with his right hook. The Pole regained the upper hand afterward, although his eye began to swell increasingly badly. In the seventh, Gardzielik added heavy body shots and stepped up the pace because his eyelid was almost closed. Palacios refused to give up, making the verdict relatively close: 98:92 and 96:94 twice.
Earlier, Mateusz Wojtasiński (2-0, 1 KO) outpointed Marius Cola (2-6). The Wrocław native was better schooled, slipping his opponent’s hooks and keeping him at distance with his jab. He faded slightly in the fourth round, but the judges awarded him a 40:36, 39:37, 39:37 decision.
November 21, 2021 [Polsat Boxing Promotions, Toruń]
In the main event in Toruń, Ihosvany Garcia (6-0, 5 KOs) impressively dealt with the tough Przemysław Gorgoń (14-8-1, 5 KOs).
The Cuban had the edge in speed from the start. He peppered his opponent with the jab and hunted for his right hook, while in the second round he also began throwing right hooks to the body. Late in the fourth, he landed near the ear and sent the Pole to the canvas. The bell saved Gorgoń. Midway through the fifth, the battered fighter took a knee and was counted to eight. Moments later he was on the canvas again, this time after a jab. The fight ended with a fourth knockdown, caused by a right hook to the ribs.
Marcin Siwy (23-0, 11 KOs) made an impressive start to his partnership with Polsat Boxing Promotions. He defeated experienced Marcelo Nascimento (18-21, 16 KOs) in the opening round. The “Heavyweight” from Częstochowa came forward aggressively behind a double jab, then, after closing the distance, consistently attacked the body with his right and looked for the left hook. Late in the round he changed direction and landed a right hook. The punch split the Brazilian’s skin below the eye, taking away his desire to continue.
Remigiusz Runowski (2-0-1, 1 KO) received an early Christmas present from the judges in the form of a draw with Jarosław Petriczenko (1-0-1, 1 KO). The scores were 39:38, 38:39 and 38:38. After the fight, both men expressed a desire for a rematch. For 18-year-old Runowski, bouts like this could be a good path for development.
Konrad Kozłowski (2-0) opened the card by defeating debutant Denis Makowski. The 2015 European junior bronze medalist controlled the fight with his jab. The Belarusian was in trouble late in the third round, but the bell saved him. All three judges scored it 40:36.
Gracjan Królikowski (1-1-1, 1 KO) started the first round well, but afterward control was taken by the better-schooled and more versatile Siergiej Szwec (3-1, 2 KOs). The judges gave him a 40:36, 39:37, 39:37 victory.
November 26, 2021 [Tymex Boxing Night 19, Radomsko]
In the main event of Tymex Boxing Night 19 in Radomsko, Robert Parzęczewski (28-2, 17 KOs) defeated Taras Goloviaschenko (6-5, 3 KOs) after a tactical and demanding fight.
“Arab” started strongly. He landed a left hook to the liver, bringing a grimace of pain to the Ukrainian’s face. However, he did not raise the pace, even though his opponent was there to be finished. The fight settled down afterward. Both men waited for the other to make a mistake, and at times the bout resembled a sharper sparring session. In the eighth round, Goloviaschenko attacked with a longer combination, but Parzęczewski blocked or slipped most of the punches. Little changed thereafter. The scores were 95:95, 96:94 and 97:93, giving the Pole a split decision victory.
Damian Jonak (41-1-2, 21 KOs) made a good start against Andrew Robinson (25-5-2, 7 KOs). He attacked both body and head, and in the second round hurt the Englishman with a left hook to the body. In the third, a right uppercut had Robinson close to being stopped, but the bell rang. Robinson came alive in the second half of the fourth, and in the fifth he put heavy pressure on the Pole, who was in trouble. Jonak recovered in the sixth. The final three minutes were a genuine war, with the Pole appearing slightly better. The judges nevertheless ruled it a draw: 77:75 for Jonak and 76:76 twice.
Tomasz Nowicki (11-0, 3 KOs) made an impressive start to his second decade of professional bouts. The boxer from Oborniki Wielkopolskie brutally knocked out Tomas Reynoso (13-9-1, 3 KOs). Midway through the second round he sent his opponent to the canvas, then hurt him with a left hook several seconds before the bell. Right at the end of the round, he landed the same punch again and knocked out the Argentine. Reynoso remained unconscious on the canvas for quite some time.
After a draw in his professional debut, Patryk Tołkaczewski (1-0-1, 1 KO), a GROMDA tournament finalist, impressively defeated Paweł Sowik (3-9, 1 KO). The 104-kilogram “Gleba” landed a right hand over the left, then added body shots before ending the fight late in the opening round with a left-right combination upstairs. Knockout. Kamil Kuździeń (7-0, 2 KOs) had an opponent changed at the last minute. Beka Murjikneli (6-19-1, 4 KOs) focused exclusively on defense. He took a knee in the fifth after a left hook to the liver, but the bell saved him. In the sixth, Kuździeń finished the job and won by TKO.
Karol Łapawa (1-0) nearly saw his debut spoiled by the tough Volodymyr Yushyn (0-4). In the first round, the Pole walked onto a counter and was counted. He recovered afterward, won the next three rounds and prevailed 38:37. Aleksander Jasiewicz (3-1) won every round against debutant Igor Pryga, while Oskar Wierzejski (5-0-1) surprisingly struggled with “GROMDA fighter” Łukasz Załuska (0-2). All judges scored it 58:56, two for Wierzejski and one for Załuska.
November 27, 2021 [KnockOut Boxing Night 19, Ostrołęka]
In the main event of KnockOut Boxing Night 19, Przemysław Zyśk (18-0, 6 KOs) defeated Juan Ruiz (27-6, 19 KOs) in his hometown.
The local hero opened with several jabs, but late in the second minute “El Nino” slipped one of them and countered hard with his right hand. In the second round, Zyśk landed a left hook, but the Venezuelan quickly responded. In the rounds that followed, both tried to impose their style, exchanged powerful left hooks and refused to let the other create distance. Neither man was able to build a clear advantage. Andrzej Wasilewski also assisted in the Pole’s corner, offering instructions alongside Łukasz Malinowski. Zyśk had a good moment in the seventh, but Ruiz finished the round more strongly, landing two straight rights. In the ninth, the Pole extended his combinations to three or four punches, limiting his opponent’s offense. Both men increased the pace in the final three minutes, but Zyśk owned the closing stretch and was rewarded with applause from the local fans. The judges had no doubts: 97:93, 98:92 and 98:92 for the Pole.
After the fight with Gennady Golovkin, some people say that a boxer never returns to the same level. We should not draw hasty conclusions, but Kamil Szeremeta (21-2-1, 5 KOs) could only draw with the solid Nazar Trimech (9-2-1, 4 KOs). The former European champion controlled the early stages, dictating the terms, but late in the first round he walked onto a powerful right uppercut. He attacked in the second, but half a minute before the bell he took a left hook to the temple and lost his balance. There was no knockdown, although the punch clearly had an effect. Szeremeta regained his rhythm in the third. In the fourth, the Frenchman willingly engaged at close range. The Pole mainly looked for shots upstairs, while his opponent answered with a long right to the body. In the sixth, Szeremeta tried to break his opponent down, but his attacks lacked dynamism. He regained his energy in the seventh, landing to the body as well as with a powerful right hook and uppercut. The final three minutes were even. One judge scored it 77:75 for Szeremeta, while the other two had it 76:76. A draw.
Paweł Stępień (16-0-1, 12 KOs) successfully returned after a six-month layoff and outpointed Hernan David Perez (8-5, 3 KOs). From the outset, he controlled the shorter opponent with his jab, looking for an opening for a powerful right hand upstairs or to the body. In the second round, he allowed the Argentine to attack while leaning against the ropes and catching the punches on his guard. He returned to his boxing afterward, although at times he gave his opponent too much. In the final round, he switched to a southpaw stance and landed a double left hook to the ribs. However, he eased off again after that exchange. The judges scored it 79:73 and 78:74 twice. Stępień could have won by a wider margin and perhaps even ended the fight inside the distance.
Rafał Wołczecki (4-0, 3 KOs) returned from a hand injury and dealt with Oleg Lebedinskiy (3-2, 1 KO) in less than five minutes. He targeted the body from the opening bell. Late in the first round, a left hook to the liver sent his opponent to the canvas, and moments later, right on the bell, he added a powerful left hook. After the break, the Ukrainian tried to attack, but Wołczecki blocked his punches. He then landed another hook beneath the right elbow and forced his opponent to take a knee. When he added a right uppercut and Lebedinskiy went to his knee for the third time, the bout was stopped midway through the second round.
