Polish women face their next bouts in Budva. Nine medals still possible

Poland’s representatives competing at the 11th European Youth Championships in Budva drew one semifinal and six quarterfinals. Yesterday, Julia Wasiakowska (50 kg) and Julia Szeremeta (54 kg) also advanced to the medal rounds. This means the Polish team could win as many as nine medals in Montenegro.
As a reminder, Wasiakowska won on points, 4:1, against Finland’s Piä Jarvinen. Szeremeta defeated Spain’s Nerea Arroyo Martinez even more convincingly, 5:0. Unfortunately, two other Polish women failed to take advantage of their opportunities. Julianna Rutkowska (60 kg) lost 0:5 to the Czech Republic’s Veronika Gajdova, while Dagmara Kaliszan (63 kg) was beaten by Turkey’s Asude Deniz Ece via RSC in the second round.
Tomorrow will therefore be a Polish day in the women’s tournament. Hopefully, several more boxers will join Weronika Bochen (+80 kg), who has already secured a semifinal bout. Ideally, all of them.
