Two days of women’s competition at the World Youth Boxing Championships are behind us. Yesterday and today, two Polish representatives took to the ring in Kielce each day. Their record is promising (3-1), although a tough tournament likely awaits the Biało-Czerwone. Most of them are beginning their campaigns in the round of 32.

Yesterday, Karolina Ampulska (54 kg) secured her place in the round of 16. The Polish boxer defeated Vilte Savickaite (Lithuania) by RSC in the second round. In her next bout, she will face Colombia’s Maria Martinez. Meanwhile, Izabela Rozkoszek (60 kg) lost her opening preliminary bout, falling by unanimous decision (0-5) to Daniela Golino (Italy).

Today, two more young Polish representatives dispatched their opponents in impressive style. Alexas Kubicka (51 kg) comfortably defeated Gisselly Salcedo (Spain) by a unanimous 5-0 decision. Julia Szeremeta (57 kg), meanwhile, achieved the biggest win of her career, beating the reigning European champion, Bojana Gojković (Montenegro), 3-2 after an excellent bout.

Alexas will fight for a place in the quarterfinals in her next bout. Her opponent will be Feruza Kazakova (Uzbekistan). Julia, meanwhile, will battle Sthelyne Grosy (France) for a spot in the medal rounds.
