“Master” Wins Main Event, Kiwior and Balski Score Quick Knockouts

Mateusz Masternak (42-5, 28 KO) made a successful debut under his new promoter. In the main event of the professional boxing card in Tarnów, he comfortably outpointed Taylor Mabika (19-6-2, 10 KO).
The bout was under “Master’s” control from the opening bell, although his opponent from Gabon remained dangerous. Whenever Mabika was caught off guard, he quickly learned from it and did not allow Masternak to repeat the same move. Masternak worked well behind his jab, and in the second round his opponent clearly felt a powerful hook to the body. In the middle rounds, the Pole began putting together combinations of three and four punches, widening his lead. In the final rounds, he consistently landed a left-right combination followed by a left uppercut. He connected frequently but could not break the very durable Mabika. After the final bell, the judges scored the bout 99:91 and 100:90 twice in favor of the Wrocław native.
Damian Kiwior (8-1-1, 1 KO) quickly and impressively dealt with Ruben Rodriguez (9-5-1, 4 KO). The fight ended in the opening round. The hometown boxer had been hoping to make the first eight-round appearance of his career, but instead recorded his first stoppage win. It began with a right-hand exchange that sent the Spaniard to the canvas. That was the beginning of the end for Rodriguez. He managed to rise after the first knockdown, but was clearly hurt. Following two more knockdowns, the bout was stopped.
Łukasz Różański (13-0, 12 KO) rapidly dismantled a frightened Ozcan Cetinkaya (31-21-2, 23 KO). Anyone who did not see the fight might have thought it was a massacre. The Turkish fighter hit the canvas five times in the first round and suffered three more knockdowns in the second. At that point, Leszek Jankowiak took pity on Cetinkaya and the fans and stopped the bout.
The favorite was obvious, but Adam Balski (15-0, 9 KO) needed an impressive victory after a below-par performance in his previous fight. He achieved his goal. Jarosław Prusak (9-5, 9 KO) was stopped in the opening round. Fiodor Łapin’s charge immediately went on the attack, looking for powerful punches at close range. At one point, he landed a short right hook and sent his opponent to the canvas. After the count of eight, Balski immediately pounced on the hurt fighter. This time, a right uppercut dropped Prusak for the second time. The referee did not allow the fight to continue and declared a TKO.
Earlier, the younger of the two brothers, Maciej Kiwior (2-0), defeated Jakub Laskowski (4-1-1, 2 KO) on points. The judges scored it 40:36 and 39:37 twice.
It was already known that Rafał Wołczecki (1-0, 1 KO) punches very hard, especially with his left hook upstairs. In Tarnów, he confirmed that reputation with an impressive professional debut. The bout lasted just 48 seconds. Standing opposite the reigning Polish junior champion and Polish senior middleweight runner-up was Jakub Nasiłowski. After a few seconds of feeling each other out, Wołczecki unleashed his trademark left hook. His opponent was badly hurt and knocked down, but rose at the count of eight. After further punches, a towel was thrown from Nasiłowski’s corner as a sign of surrender.
Earlier, Filip Pham Hong (2-0, 2 KO) dismantled Kamil Szydłowski (0-1) with two right hooks. The fight lasted even less time—just 39 seconds.
