“Master” Showed the Difference in Class at Suzuki Boxing Night II

After a four-month break, Poland’s Olympic boxers returned to the ring. Yesterday, at the Kielce Cultural Centre, fans watched the country’s leading men’s and women’s fighters compete at Suzuki Boxing Night II. The evening’s main event, however, was an eight-round professional bout between Mateusz Masternak and Sergiy Radchenko. The Olympic-style bouts were also eagerly anticipated.
“Master” did not disappoint. He quickly showed his poorly prepared opponent that he was at least a class above him. The fight was extremely one-sided. The Ukrainian never posed a real threat to the Pole. After this bout, however, questions remain about Mateusz’s future career. Will he wait until next year for a qualifying bout for the Tokyo Olympics against the dangerous Bulgarian Radoslav Panteleev, or will he return to professional boxing? It would be a shame to lose his Olympic opportunity...
Fans in Kielce also watched an international bout in which Damian Durkacz (63 kg) faced Slovakia’s Michal Takacs. In his home country, the Pole’s opponent is regarded as one of the leading boxers. Both men produced entertaining boxing, good technical skills and plenty of ring savvy. After the verdict was announced, Takacs looked disappointed. However, if he wants to win away from home, he needs to bring somewhat more to the fight.
Their bouts were also won by: Sandra Drabik (51 kg), Sandra Kruk (57 kg), Karolina Koszewska (69 kg), Łukasz Zyguła (69 kg), Bartosz Gołębiewski (75 kg), Mateusz Goiński (81 kg) and Oskar Safaryan (+91 kg).
