Two Polish Boxers in the Finals of the 10th European Cadet Championships

This was the penultimate stage of the 10th European Cadet Championships in Galati. The semifinals are now complete, with four boxers coached by Tomasz Winiarski and Krzysztof Górecki taking part. Two of them – the still-undefeated Zofia Stachowiak (70 kg) and Barbara Marcinkowska (75 kg, pictured) – advanced to Saturday’s finals in impressive style. Stachowiak will face Norway’s Sunniva Hofstad, while Marcinkowska will meet Russia’s Valeriya Vorontsova.

Stachowiak defeated host representative Beatrice Moldovan by RSC in the first round. Marcinkowska beat Ukraine’s Anzhela Kvartsiana unanimously on points, 5-0. Julia Szeremeta (50 kg) and Nikola Prymaczenko (54 kg) will return to Poland with bronze medals. Szeremeta lost 0-5 to Russia’s Valeriya Linkova, while Prymaczenko was unable to overcome Latvia’s Nikolina Boke.

Russia had the most finalists – nine. They were followed by Italy with four, and England, Ireland and Poland with two each. Bulgaria, Montenegro, Latvia, Germany, Norway, Romania and Turkey each have one finalist.
