Tuesday was unequivocally a “Polish” day at the 10th European Cadet Championships. Three athletes coached by Tomasz Winiarski and Krzysztof Górecki competed in the ring in Galati – Julia Szeremeta (50 kg), Nikola Prymaczenko (54 kg) and Barbara Marcinkowska (75 kg). All three won their quarterfinals and joined Zofia Stachowiak (70 kg), who became the first Polish athlete to secure a podium place on Monday.

For Julia Szeremeta, her third-round RSC victory over Romania’s Diana Brinza was her second triumph at these championships. In the fight for a place in the final, the Polish boxer will face Russia’s Valeriya Linkova.

Nikola Prymaczenko had plenty of luck. Her bout against Germany’s Fenja Sturzenbecher ended in the third round by RSC due to her opponent’s injury. Until the bout was stopped, the German was clearly ahead on points. In the semifinal, the Polish boxer will face Latvia’s Nikolina Boke, who appears to be performing at a slightly lower level than Sturzenbecher.

Barbara Marcinkowska (75 kg) comfortably defeated Romania’s Roberta Andrei by unanimous decision (5-0). In the bout for a place in the final, she will meet Ukraine’s Anzhela Kvartsiana, who has not yet fought in Galati.
