Youth prevails at the Stamma Memorial. Poles claim three victories

The 36th Feliks Stamm Memorial came to an end in Warsaw on Saturday evening. For the Polish women’s and men’s teams, it was the final major test before the 2nd European Games, which will be held in Minsk from June 21 to 30. Fans watched 15 bouts featuring six Polish women and three Polish men. Natalia Rok (51 kg), Elżbieta Wójcik (69 kg) and Damian Durkacz (64 kg) stood on the top step of the podium.

Experience and youth faced one another in the three Polish finals. Each time, the latter prevailed. Natalia Rok, by the votes of the foreign judges, defeated Sandra Drabik 3-2 in a close bout. Drabik was the silver medalist at the previous European Games in Baku (2015). Elżbieta Wójcik beat Karolina Koszewska unanimously, 5-0. Damian Durkacz won 4-1 against Baku bronze medalist Mateusz Polski.

Sandra Kruk (57 kg), Aneta Rygielska (60 kg) and Tomasz Niedźwiecki (91 kg) took second place. All of them lost after spirited bouts against higher-ranked opponents.
