Damian Durkacz out of the tournament in Valladolid

Our youngest representative at the 9th European Union Championships in Valladolid, 19-year-old Damian Durkacz (64 kg), was unable to overcome his first tournament hurdle. After an intriguing bout, he lost on points by split decision (1-4) to southpaw Moldovan Dmitri Galagot.

Tomorrow, reigning Polish senior champion Bartosz Gołębiewski (75 kg) will look for his opportunity. His first opponent will be Galagot’s compatriot, 27-year-old Victor Carapcevschi. If the boxer from Kielce overcomes this hurdle, he will face Belgian Lancelot Proton de la Chappele or Croatian Mladen Sobjeslavski on his way to a medal.
