Anapa: Polish fighters guaranteed four medals before their bouts, two lose in the round of 16

The 9th European Junior Women’s Championships, formerly known as the Cadet Championships, have begun in Anapa, Russia. Polish representatives traditionally take part in the tournament. On the first day, in round-of-16 bouts, two of the nine Polish fighters competed: Julia Szeremeta (48 kg) and Alexas Kubicka (50 kg). They had the honor of contesting the first bouts in rings A and B. Unfortunately, both lost by split decision, 2-3.
Julia Szeremeta lost to last year’s EJC bronze medalist, Turkey’s Melikenur Gunes. Meanwhile, Alexas Kubicka had to acknowledge the superiority of Germany’s Melissa Rempel.
