Poland’s representatives will bring home two medals from the highly competitive 22nd International Youth Boxing Tournament “Brandenburg Cup”. Yesterday, five boxers coached by Jarosław Przygoda competed in the quarterfinals held in the ring in Frankfurt (Oder). Victories were claimed by Mateusz Wojtasiński (52 kg) and Oskar Safaryan (+91 kg). Today, they will fight for a place in the final.

Mateusz narrowly defeated Spain’s Alberto Arroyo Bueno on points (4-1). In the semifinals, he will face American Derry Noble. Oskar comfortably outpointed Norway’s Tobias Yrvin (5-0), and his next opponent will be Latvia’s Milans Volkovs.

Unfortunately, the three other Polish boxers have been eliminated from the tournament. All of them lost to favored fighters from Russia. Damian Durkacz (60 kg) was beaten by Nikita Piskunov, Eryk Apresyan (69 kg) lost to Osman Aliyev, while Konrad Kaczmarkiewicz (81 kg) was defeated by Nikita Kovyshkin. The latter bout was decided by a split judges’ decision (1-4).
