On the second day of the 5th Men’s World Youth Boxing Championships, three Polish representatives appeared in the ring in St. Petersburg: Damian Durkacz (60 kg), Patryk Urbański (64 kg) and Michał Soczyński (81 kg). Only Urbański won. He defeated Czech boxer Petr Novak and will face Finn Rasmus Bergman in the round of 32 on November 21. Bergman received a bye.

Interestingly, every Polish boxer competing that day faced a southpaw opponent. All of them deserve praise, including the two ambitious Poles who left the ring defeated. Their opponents belonged to the world elite and were considered medal contenders. Soczyński lost to the quick and agile Cuban technician Osvar David Morrell, while Durkacz was beaten by the taller Irishman Patrick Donovan. Both opponents boxed without a guard for most of the bout, relying primarily on their reflexes.
