Eryk Apresyan Advances to the Quarterfinals of the Junior World Championships

Two representatives of Poland competed today in the ring in St. Petersburg at the 10th Junior World Championships. The Polish fighters had mixed fortunes. First to appear was Damian Durkacz (54 kg), who crossed gloves with Taras Bondarchuk. The Pole put up a good fight against the Ukrainian, but his opponent’s advantage throughout the bout was clear. The judges unanimously awarded the victory to Bondarchuk.

The second of our representatives was Eryk Apresyan (66 kg). This year’s European junior silver medalist needed less than two rounds to defeat Serbia’s Nikola Simonovic before the final bell. As a result, he advanced to the quarterfinals of the Junior World Championships. In his bout for a place in the medal zone, he will face Aibek Akulbekov of Kyrgyzstan.
