“After several of Krzysztof Włodarczyk’s fights and Rafał Jackiewicz’s bout with Delvin Rodriguez, the Głowacki-Seferi clash should be, in sporting terms, the best fight between our boxer and a foreign opponent that we have ever organized in Poland,” promoter Andrzej Wasilewski says.

We can probably be confident about the form of Krzysztof Głowacki, who was prepared by trainer Fiodor Łapin, ahead of Saturday’s event in Toruń. The bigger unknown is Nuri Seferi’s condition. The 38-year-old Albanian insists, however, that he has done his work.

It is not often that a fight involving a boxer coming to Poland from abroad generates considerable interest in his homeland as well. This is different. Seferi is encouraging his compatriots to watch the broadcast on Super Sport. He is promoting it via his Facebook page, followed by as many as 371,000 people. Among Polish boxers, only Artur Szpilka is more popular in this respect, with 549,000 fans.

The “Albanian Tyson” arrived in Poland on Tuesday. That same afternoon, he met Głowacki at a press conference in Warsaw. The atmosphere was sporting.

“I trained in Germany for eight weeks. I have completed 85 rounds of sparring, including with former world champion Juan Carlos Gomez. I respect Głowacki, but I came here to win. I am capable of fighting for twelve rounds, although I know perfectly well how difficult it is to win on points in a foreign country. That is why I will be looking for a knockout,” Seferi declares.

“Seferi is a great warrior and, without a doubt, the toughest opponent of my career. I am ready for twelve rounds of hard war,” Głowacki states.

The Albanian is thinking about a rematch with Marco Huck, whom he lost to nine years ago. The bout with Głowacki is a semifinal in a so-called eliminator for the WBO cruiserweight title held by the German. In the first semifinal, held in the autumn, England’s Tony Bellew won by defeating his compatriot Nathan Cleverly.
