Two Polish victories in Anapa. Durkacz and Foryś fight for medals

Good news comes from Anapa, Russia, where Poland’s representatives are competing at the 18th European Junior Championships, previously held as the Cadet Championships. Two Poles stepped into the ring today – Damian Durkacz (48 kg) and Filip Foryś (80 kg). Both finished their bouts victorious.
Damian boxed very well and comfortably defeated Belarusian Mikita Romash on points. Two judges awarded him every round, scoring the bout 30-27. The third saw the Pole winning 29-28. Durkacz will face Hungary’s Gabor Virban for a place in the medal rounds.
Filip won by TKO in the second round. His Latvian opponent, Emils Ahadovs, was unable to continue due to injury. After the opening round, the Pole was already ahead on two of the three judges’ scorecards. In the bout for a medal, Foryś will meet the physically strong Lithuanian Robertas Jokulis. Today, Jokulis defeated Italy’s Salvatore Scala by RSC in the second round.
