Mateusz Masternak (33-2, 24 KOs) made his debut under a new trainer. The former European champion appeared at a professional boxing gala in Kiel, where he faced Ben Nsafoah (15-12-2, 8 KOs). The Pole won by stoppage.

The Wrocław native applied pressure with his jab from the opening bell. He also looked for opportunities to land a stronger right hand to the body. The following minutes followed a similar pattern. His opponent, born in Ghana but representing Germany, limited himself almost exclusively to covering up behind a high guard.

Despite his dominance, Ulli Wegner urged calm in the corner after the end of the third round. He had no intention of unnecessarily rushing his fighter. After the break, Masternak finally caught his opponent against the ropes and overwhelmed him with a long combination. He did not inflict any major damage, but the accumulation of punches meant that Nsafoah did not come out for the fifth round.
