Baby Face Returns with Impressive Stoppage Victory

After a long layoff, Adam Kownacki (6-0, 6 KOs) did what he was expected to do. He quickly defeated Excelle Holmes (2-3-1, 1 KO). The Polish heavyweight badly hurt his opponent in the final seconds of the first round, but the bell saved Holmes from further punishment.
Right after the start of the second round, our “Baby Face” charged forward aggressively. He trapped the American against the ropes and unleashed a barrage of heavy punches. Referee Allen Huggins stepped in, concerned for Holmes’s safety and the possibility of a knockout.
Kownacki weighed 115.2 kilograms yesterday. That is still less than he weighed when he returned to the gym. The Pole says that, through hard work, he will lose several more kilograms and take boxing seriously. We’ll hold him to his word, because there is certainly talent within him…
The bout was part of a professional boxing card in Atlantic City. In the main event, Sergey Kovalev (24-0-1, 22 KOs) defended his WBO light heavyweight title against Cedric Agnew (26-1, 13 KOs).
