“In Vitali’s absence, his brother Wladimir is the only heavyweight champion for me. If I am to fight for a world championship, it will only be against the best opponent,” says Tomasz Adamek. He is not interested in winning the WBC title.

– Did you like Tyson Fury’s offer to fight you?
Adamek: If it were to be a big-money fight, I would have no problem with it outside the April date. Of course, the IBF and the position of mandatory challenger remain the priority, but in boxing nothing is impossible. Since Fury is making so much noise, we can make this fight happen. First, I have to beat Vyacheslav Glazkov. Only afterward will it be time to consider whether it would be better to stage it in the United States or the British Isles.

My friend and former opponent Bobby Gunn comes to the gym where I train with his son. He shares his background with Fury—they are both Gypsies. Tyson is not well liked among his own people. They are a feisty nation, while Fury talks a lot but does little. Bobby is urging me to go to Wembley and fight him. Maybe it is a good idea? After all, several million Poles live in England…

– How realistic is a fight with Kubrat Pulev, the IBF rankings leader?
Adamek: We will see. If there is no other attractive offer, for example from Fury, perhaps we will have to pursue a fight with Pulev. It would probably take place in Poland, because nobody in the United States knows Kubrat. However, I am not looking that far ahead. If I do not beat Glazkov in March, there will be nothing to discuss.

– And you do not want to pursue the WBC title? Vitali Klitschko recently relinquished it, and the winner of the Bermane Stiverne–Chris Arreola fight will take over the belt…
Adamek: In Vitali’s absence, his brother Wladimir is the only heavyweight champion for me. If I am to fight for a world championship, it will only be against the best opponent. I want that fight, and I will do everything to make it happen.
