“Master” Returns with a Victory. Opponent Goes Down After a Powerful Counter

Mateusz Masternak (31-1, 23 KOs) ended his comeback fight in spectacular fashion. Making his debut under the guidance of Piotr Wilczewski, “Master” made several defensive mistakes. However, he looked significantly better on offense than in his previous appearances. That is a good sign ahead of his next challenges. Tough Sandro Siproszwili (27-18, 13 KOs) earned his purse the hard way, but paid a heavy price in defeat.

In the first round, “Master” was caught by an uppercut. Apart from that moment, he clearly dominated. He landed with his jab and consistently looked for a left hook to the body. In the second round, Siproszwili attacked with a left hook several times. He caught the inattentive Pole at least twice. Masternak responded after several dozen seconds. He then boxed with greater confidence and returned to his effective jab.

The third round also had better and worse moments for both fighters. Masternak was never in serious trouble, but the experienced Georgian took advantage of his lapses in concentration several times. In the fourth round, Siproszwili decided to attack more boldly. He even forced the Pole onto the defensive. However, he may have overreached with his ambition, because after “Master’s” response he completely surrendered the initiative. Moments later, he found himself against the ropes.

There was a moment of hesitation. It was ended by an attack from Siproszwili that was not fully prepared. Masternak read his opponent’s intentions perfectly and countered with a flawless right cross. The Georgian crashed heavily to the canvas. The Pole spectacularly rebuilt himself after his defeat to Drozdek and showed that he could soon once again be ready for intriguing bouts with strong opponents.
