Egis Klimas’s manager confirmed in an interview with “Przegląd Sportowy” that the fight between Tomasz Adamek and Vyacheslav Glazkov, scheduled for Saturday, will not take place. The Ukrainian is nevertheless expected to enter the ring that day. Talks are underway with the commission sanctioning the bout.

“I cannot reveal the opponent’s name yet. It should be announced at today’s press conference,” Klimas said.

“Is Vyacheslav disappointed? Of course. He had been preparing for this fight for a long time. We do not suspect Adamek of anything. We believe that he really is dealing with health problems. We understand that, if he is to enter the ring with Glazkov, he should be one hundred percent ready. Illness and a high fever are serious obstacles,” the manager added.

According to Klimas, the Adamek–Glazkov fight could still take place. However, it will require time.

“I think both Vyacheslav and Tomasz will want this fight. They both trained hard and know that their bout would be very attractive to fans,” Klimas concluded.

The manager also represents the interests of other boxers from the former Soviet Union who are trying to break into the American market. They include WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev and two-time Olympic gold medalist Vasyl Lomachenko.
